Crans-Montana: tradition & "Classic"

Since 2008, Crans-Montana has organised, with great success, no fewer than ten World Cups, nine European Cups and five FIS competitions, in addition to the 2009 European final Cup and the 2011 Junior World Championships.

An impressive result in only seven years, and one that is paying off now!  The International Ski Federation FIS via Swiss-Ski has guaranteed four new FIS Ladies World Cup competitions to the dynamic Crans-Montana Alpine skiing Organising Committee.  These competitions will all take place on the Mont Lachaux run, completely remodeled in 2013.  Based on the experiences from World Cup competitions which took place in 2014, certain sectors of this very selective and highly spectacular run have undergone modifications this summer/autumn.

Upcoming Ladies World Cup races in Crans-Montana will be held:

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February 2016 > Downhill and Super Combined (Downhill/Slalom)

Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February 2017 > Super-G and Super Combined  (Super-G/Slalom)

Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 March 2018 > Downhill and Super-G

Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 February 2019 > Downhill and Super Combined (Downhill/Slalom)

Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 February 2020 > Downhill and Super-G

“Crans-Montana, in its heralded tradition for organizing Alpine ski competitions and above all its new regular presence in the World Cup, deserves the title of being a Classic”, as stated by Marius Robyr, President of the Organising Committee, at the end of autumn sessions 2014 of the FIS which were held in Zurich.  For the big mid-term objective, the Organisation of the FIS Ski World Championships, a first important step was reached on 28 June 2014. Effectively, the 2014 Assembly of delegates of Swiss-Ski designated Crans-Montana as the only official Swiss candidate after the 2017 World Championships in St. Moritz.
