An exciting start to the 2023 Alpine ski races in Crans-Montana

With the attribution of the 2027 World Ski Championships by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), the demands on the Crans-Montana Alpine Ski Races Organising Committee have increased significantly. Its president, Marius Robyr, emphasised this repeatedly at the traditional pre-winter meeting of all the heads of the resort and their deputies. Four races are to be held in 2023, with the motto "Striving for Excellence": two women's European Cup downhill races on 18 and 19 February, and the women's World Cup Classic, with a downhill and a super-G, on the weekend of 25 and 26 February.

In his introduction to the meeting, Marius Robyr bid farewell to a number of members who have left the Organising Committee after many years of valuable commitment, and he welcomed a number of competent new members. These new members are joining the technical department, which is newly headed by Stéphane Robyr. This department will gradually be strengthened in view of the 2027 World Championships. The first addition is the appointment of Frenchman Jean-Philippe Vulliet, who left his position as FIS director of women's speed races at the end of the 2021/22 season, as an advisor with a wealth of piste and race knowledge.

Since the launch of the new era of the Ski World Cup in Crans-Montana in 2006, Marius Robyr has placed great importance on maintaining an excellent team spirit within the O.C. The same applies to the close and efficient cooperation with the CMA lift company, the army (on average 200 people are involved in the training and World Cup race days), the civil protection service, Crans-Montana Tourism, and of course the Haut-Plateau authorities and the canton, as well as Swiss-Ski and FIS partners.

Marius Robyr concluded his presentation with a few motivating words about the huge challenge of the 2027 World Championships. He made a point of underlining that the previous work in all sectors, carried out over many years with great commitment and competence by the Organising Committee, has been an important part of the mosaic in the clear and decisive FIS decision to award the World Championships to Crans-Montana. Brigadier Robyr's main request to the (soon to be officially appointed) WC2027 Management Committee, is that the promises regarding the stadium, pistes and organisation which were made in Crans-Montana's FIS bid are fulfilled.
