MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE

We already promise you: one week after the 2019 World Championships in Åre/SWE, on the weekend of 23 and 24 February, an air of retaliation will surround the women’s races in Crans-Montana when the Downhill and Alpine Combined disciplines (Downhill/Slalom) take place.

The Ladies’ World Cup Classic will once again be held on the Mont Lachaux piste, one of the most beautiful and most demanding pistes on the « White Circus » circuit. In the last World Cup races, at the beginning of March this year, we were able to celebrate Michelle Gisin, the Olympic Alpine Combined champion,  on our beautiful Valais Haut Plateau, and also Wendy Holdener, the Olympic Team Event champion, Slalom silver medallist and bronze Alpine Combined medallist in PyeongChang 2018. After Åre, the question is : will we have the joy of celebrating Swiss world medal winners in 2019?

The entertainment programme will be packed and will offer wonderful fun ! The Ycoor ice rink will be the setting for some highly recommended highlights, on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 February when the race numbers will be given in the presence of the best female skiers, and also the prizegiving (on Saturday). On both race days, don’t miss the spectacular aerial choreography of the Swiss Air Force PC-7 TEAM.

The « World Cup Party » and its wild atmosphere will take place on Saturday evening, for the second time, in Le Régent tennis hall. The sensational group Die Jungen Zillertaler, one of the top folk music bands in Austria, and the Genderbüebu, the best Valaisan accordian quartet, are sure to shake the foundations (we recommend that you book your tickets in advance: /en/spectators/tickets-2019/)

Thanks to the committed Organising Committee that I preside over, in the last week of February I will have the pleasure of organising the 19th and 20th World Cup races since the return of the « White Circus » to Crans-Montana in 2008.

I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to the political authorities in Valais and on the Haut-Plateau, to the tourist authorities and CMA cable car company, to the sponsors, military and civil protection, and also to the national and international media for their huge support, which is so very appreciated. Special thanks go to our partners Swiss-Ski and the FIS International Ski Federation for their trust in us.

Before we have the pleasure of welcoming you for the races in February, we would like to send you our best wishes for a very Happy Christmas, and a wonderfully happy New Year.
