Beat Tschuor: Everything is ‘possible’ for the Swiss

The home races in Crans-Montana often come after a major event. And in recent years, the Swiss women’s team have always arrived in Valais with lots of medals in their luggage and a great deal of confidence.

In the last five editions of the World Cup, Swiss competitors have always finished at the very least in the top three on the Mont-Lachaux piste. Beat Tschuor, head coach of the Swiss-Ski women's team since spring 2018, believes his athletes can do the same this weekend. "Anything is possible on this demanding piste. There’s always a great atmosphere too, thanks to the large number of local fans," he explains.

In addition, the prospect of the 2027 world championships is already a boost, according to Tschuor. "The home races are already great in themselves. But a world championship in your own country is even more motivating.”

When asked who will still be in his team - some of the athletes are already in their thirties - Tschuor says: "Hopefully as many as possible, of course. There are up-and-coming athletes lining up too. "

And you, Mr. Tschuor? "I like the idea of being able to lead a team at the world championships on home soil. But let's see what the next four years bring."
