Saturday 24 February, The Alpine skiers’ Olympic programme in PyeongChang ended with a new event: the Team Event, a parallel slalom which saw 16 nations competing (Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA.) The first Olympic gold medal in the discipline went to Switzerland, with a team made up of Denise Feierabend, Wendy Holdener, Luca Aerni (athlete in reserve, did not race), Daniel Yule and Ramon Zenhäusern. The silver went to Austria, and Norway took bronze.
The Organisation Committee of the Audi FIS Ladies World Cup races in Crans-Montana congratulates the Swiss team for this fantastic « Olympic first», the 7th medal for the alpines in PyeongChang. Denise Feierabend deserves so much this gold medal after all the ups and downs she had in her World Cup career which started with a Slalom on 15 February 2008 in Zagreb.
