Crans-Montana provided a track deserving of the World Cup for young talent

Wednesday, for the 2nd Downhill training runs, the organisers of the FIS Oerlikon ski races – Swiss Junior Championships, speed events, offered a very well prepared track Mont Lachaux to the young talents – a track deserving of the World cup.  The wind unfortunately made its presence felt on the upper part of the run.  The start had to be lowered after the first three female skiers made their runs, from « la face » to the  « trou du renard ».

In the Women’s category, the Valaisanne Julie Dayer (20 years old) from Hérémence confirmed her excellent performance.  Coming in second place the previous day during the 1st training run, she came up to the lead, passing Raphaela Suter (18/Stoos).  Her run for the third title would cross pathes with Nathalie Gröbli (18/SC Emmetten/Nidwald), winner of the first training run and holder of a very good result on the original track, during the 2nd training run, before it had to be shortened because of the wind.  For the men, three big favourites for the gold medal for the Downhill FIS Oerlikon would become clear at the end of two training runs: Matthias Brügger (21/Frutigen; 1st and 2nd during training runs), Ramon Zürcher (23/Feusisberg; 4th and 1st) and Bruno Steiner (20, Zweisimmen; twice 3rd).
