Although France’s Laura Gauché missed a gate, she finished with the best time in the second training session for the Crans-Montana downhill. Obwalden’s Priska Nufer was third.
In the Crans-Montana sunshine, Laura Gauché set the best time in the second downhill training session, from the lower start gate. But her result should be taken with a grain of salt, because, as on the previous day when she took 3rd place, the French skier missed a gate, finishing three hundredths ahead of Norway's Ragnhild Mowinckel and 27 hundredths ahead of Priska Nufer from Obwalden, who shares third place with another French competitor, Romane Miradoli.
Joana Hählen, winner of the first training session on Thursday, proved that she is in good shape on the Mont Lachaux piste by finishing in 6th place. Italy’s Sofia Goggia (8th) and Olympic champion Corinne Suter (10th) are in the lead. The other Swiss remained in the background for now. Only Lara Gut-Behrami (21st) and Stephanie Jenal (24th) are in the top 30.
The first downhill of the weekend in the Valais resort is scheduled for 10.30am on Saturday.
